The Future of Digital Engineering

NAVWAR is creating new pathways for innovation and advancement with the NAVWAR DE Digital Engineering (DE) Strategy.

The strategy document encompasses the main goals and benefits of incorporating DE into our Naval systems. The strategy establishes a vision for the formalized use of DE modeling across the spectrum of engineering disciplines to increase acquisition speed and drive predictable outcomes for the warfighter.

At NAVWAR, we must advance our engineering practices to meet the challenges critical to Naval superiority. The tools and methods we use are essential to our success. Our advancements within digital engineering is a prime example of such progress.

The resource outlines and contextualizes how Model Based Engineering (MBE) will be used to improve engineering speed; reduce costs; and address mission, business, and system complexity. The strategy will be used to develop annual execution plans.

The strategy works to highlight engineering disciplines that are primed for advancement through the use of model-based practices. The Digital Engineering Wheel (pictured above) helps to conceptualize the connections between the various disciplines and the data shared between them.
